Intro Class
Rules, Alliance, Expectations, Important Issues, Expectations On the first day of this class, I realized it’s going to be a lot more personal than I expected. Instead of just focusing on resumes or interviews, it’s really about understanding yourself and what you actually want long-term. We talked a lot about self-knowledge, like identifying your strengths, values, and goals, which made me realize I haven’t fully figured that out yet. One thing that stood out to me was thinki

My experience in Barcelona during these months has been a huge part of my personal and professional growth. Living in a completely different environment forced me to adapt quickly, become more independent, and step outside of my comfort zone. I had to navigate new situations, meet new people, and manage my time in a different way than I am used to. At the same time, being here gave me a broader perspective on different cultures, lifestyles, and ways of working. It also helped

Over the course of this class, one of the biggest competencies I developed is self awareness. At the beginning of the semester, I had general ideas about my goals and strengths, but I had not fully taken the time to reflect on them in a structured way. Through activities like the career wheel, SWOT analysis, and self knowledge exercises, I became much more aware of how I think, what motivates me, and where I need to improve. I realized that I am very driven and goal oriented,

Post #23- Leadership Practice / Closure
This was a bittersweet last class, because it felt like everything we have been working on all semester was coming together. We did a final group activity where we were assigned a leader, and in my group Miley took on that role. It was interesting to see how the group dynamic changed when one person was guiding the process and keeping us focused. The task was to come up with an idea to improve UAB with a limited budget, which made it more realistic. Our group decided to focus

Post 21- Leadership Definition
This class made me think more about what leadership actually means. Before, I would have said a leader is just someone in charge, but I realized it is more about influencing and motivating people toward a common goal. It is not just about authority, but about how you guide others and bring a group together to achieve something . We also talked about whether leaders are born or made, which I found really interesting. At first, it seems like some people are naturally better le

During the group decision making activity, we had to choose items to survive with under pressure. My group used a process of elimination method, which ended up working really well. Instead of everyone pushing their own ideas, we went through each option together and narrowed it down step by step. In the end, we all agreed on the final items, which made the decision feel very collaborative. This experience showed me that leadership does not always have to be one person taking

This class focused on interview preparation, and it was definitely one of the more interactive ones. We practiced thinking on the spot and answering common interview questions, which made me realize how important it is to be able to clearly explain your experiences and not just have them on your resume. One part that stood out was when Erika interviewed me and asked me to talk about a time I faced a challenge and came out stronger. I had to think quickly, and I talked about h

This class focused on resumes and cover letters, and it made me realize how strategic the whole process actually is. Before this, I thought a resume was just listing your experience, but I learned that it is really about showing your value and how you fit a specific role. One thing that stood out to me was how important it is to tailor your resume for each job. Instead of sending the same one everywhere, you need to match your skills and experiences to what the job is asking

This class focused on communication and relational styles, and it was really interesting because it made me think about how different people naturally approach situations. We learned about the BRIDGE model, which breaks people into different styles like fire, air, earth, and water based on how they think and act. After doing the activity, I realized I am more of a “water” person. That means I tend to be more calm, empathetic, and reflective, and I usually try to listen and un

This class fell on Saint Patrick’s Day, which made it a little more fun, but the topic of personal branding actually made me think more seriously about how I present myself. Before this, I kind of assumed your “brand” just naturally comes from what you do, but I realized it is something you have to actively shape and be intentional about. One thing that stood out to me was thinking about what I want people to associate with me. It is not just about listing skills or experienc
